Daily ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ (EVZ) has given up the positions of coordinating editors and deputy editor-in-chief, a post taken by Ioana Lupea, who announced that she was going to work with another newspaper, according to paginademedia.ro. Apparently, Lupea is currently negotiating a collaboration formula with the newspaper. At the same time, management positions at EVZ have been restructured, but the personnel will be transferred to other posts.
Other employees, about eight people, were however fired, including the newspaper’s longest-standing employee, general newsroom secretary Cristi Popa. The newspaper’s team of correctors was also let go. According to the same source, EVZ journalists have until Monday to decide whether they want to stay on with the newspaper or leave, in exchange for compensation. All contracts with employees will be renegotiated and modified so as to be in line with the new Labour Code, to come into force on June 1.
