Nurse charged with killing newborns at Giulesti maternity, re-employed

Florentina Carstea, a nurse charged with the violent death of six newborn babies at the Giulesti Maternity Hospital, has been back to work since May 1, in the same ward of the Intensive Care Unit where the tragedy took place, which led to the death of six newborn and the injuring of five more. The maternity management said they had to re-hire her, under the Labour Code stipulations. The woman had been in detention in the prison compound of the Bucharest Police for 6o days. The Bucharest Tribunal then ruled she shall be released from detention and tried while free.
