Fines for TAU irregularities to grow fourfold

The value of the fine for uncertified tourism accommodation units (TAUs) has grown from RON 10-20,000 to RON 40-50,000, while the fine for TAUs’ whose certification expired doubled after the government adopted a decision on tourism certification, Mediafax informs.

The new provisions correlate the size of the fine with the level of social danger involved and introduce new sanctions for failure to observe the obligations that tourism operators have, the aforementioned source shows. Thus, uncertified TAUs will be fined RON 40-50,000, while TAUs whose certification expired will be fined RON 20-40,000. In contrast, the previous fines stood at RON 10-20,000 in both cases.
