Gov’t approves creation of Coast Guard

The government on Wednesday approved the creation of the Coast Guard, to operate at the Black Sea seaside, the maritime Danube and the Danube Delta areas, by reorganisation of border police inspectorates in several neighbouring counties. Thus, border police officers in Constanta, Tulcea, Calarasi and Giurgiu will turn into the Coast Guard, Interior Ministry sources told Mediafax. Recently, Interior Minister Traian Igas said about 350 border police with four county inspectorates would lose their jobs after the “unification” of the four inspectorates.
