DAMASCUS – At least 10 people were killed when security forces opened fire at a funeral procession of those killed in Friday’s protests in central Syria, Al Jazeera reported. An eyewitness told Al Jazeera that security forces shot without warning at the crowd of some 40,000 mourners returning from a cemetery in the city of Homs. “Today we’ve lost about 10 people killed in Homs. Tens of people injured as well,” lawyer and human rights activist Lina Mansour said. The Syrian human rights group Sawasiah says more than 800 people have been killed since the unrest against the country’s longtime ruler began in mid-March.
