Democrat-Liberal Deputy Mircia Giurgiu yesterday announced that five Senators with the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) would part ways with the party this week. Moreover, he says that some Democrat-Liberal Deputies too are discussing their leaving the party. “I know that, as of next week, at least one senator, if not more, would leave, and a few deputies, for what I know. I don’t know whether a different political project is at stake, I’m yet to learn about it,” Realitatea TV cited Giurgiu as saying. He was referring to Dan Voiculescu’s statement on 20 PDL lawmakers to get involved in a different political project.
“The focus is on a strategy they planned and which they will make public at the soonest. (…) They discussed it among themselves and I won’t… I’m not part of that group, so I would not say more,” the Deputy added. Asked whether it’s a “big wave” of Senators/Deputies to leave PDL, Giurgiu said that, “for now, there are a few, a maximum of five”. By tomorrow <today>, their number is likely to go up,” he also said.
