League I: Violence in last leg

The last leg of the current League I season was marred by violence. During the game that Rapid won against FC Brasov, score 1-0, a young female fan suffered serious burns on her face and neck after pyrotechnic devices were thrown on the pitch, Mediafax informs. Six fans were detained. In another game, FC Timisoara defeated Dinamo, score 4-1, finishing the season on second place and qualifying for the Champions League preliminaries. Steaua defeated title holder CFR Cluj and qualified for the Europa League. Otelul Galati, Romania’s new champion, won its away game against Astra Ploiesti, score 1-0. FC Vaslui, FC Rapid, Steaua and Dinamo have qualified for the Europa League. Sportul Studentesc, Unirea Urziceni, Victoria Branesti and Universitatea Craiova relegated.
