Boc and Udrea, the most visible politicians on Facebook

Emil Boc was the most visible politician on Facebook in the course of the past month, followed by Elena Udrea, ranking second, and by Crin Antonescu and Victor Ponta, claiming the third place, ex aequo, according to a Mediafax Monitorizare analysis. The study was conducted between April 10 and May 10, analyzing the over 12,500 Facebook pages monitored by Mediafax Monitorizare and taking into consideration 20 politicians. Out of the total 731 mentions posted on the walls of Facebook users, in reference to these politicians, nearly half (48.7 pc) refer to Emil Boc. The next positions are claimed by Elena Udrea (13 pc of total posts), the National Liberal Party (PNL) and Social-Democrat Party (PSD) leaders, Crin Antonescu, respectively, Victor Ponta (6.6 pc each), Corneliu Vadim Tudor (3.8 pc), Vasile Blaga (3.7 pc), Theodor Paleologu and Marian Vanghelie (2.7 pc each), Adrian Nastase (2.2 pc) and Mircea Geoana (2.1 pc).
The remaining ten politicians – Roberta Anastase, Radu Mazare, Gheorghe Flutur, Andrei Chiliman, Elena Basescu, Cristian Boureanu, Cezar Preda, Ioan Oltean, Raluca Turcan and Liviu Dragnea – claimed, each, less than 2 pc of the total mentions. Preparations for the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL) Convention, disputes surrounding the organization of the Bucharest Law referendum and reactions to the announcement regarding the anti-missile system to be set up in Deveselu are among the main events on the political scene referred to on Facebook users’ walls in the aforementioned interval.
