Chelsea part ways with Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has been dismissed by Chelsea FC after the Blues ended the campaign without a trophy. “This season’s performances have fallen short of expectations,” said a club statement, quoted by uefa.com. Chelsea FC have parted company with manager Carlo Ancelotti following the end to the west London club’s first campaign without a trophy in three years. The Blues made the announcement a few hours after losing 1-0 at Everton FC on the final day of the Premier League season. Appointed in July 2009, Ancelotti steered Chelsea to a maiden league and FA Cup double in his debut campaign, but this term the Stamford Bridge outfit went out of both domestic cups early and finished second behind Manchester United FC, to whom they also succumbed in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
