Bookfest 2011- five days of cultural celebrations

Hungary, the Guest of honor.

Between May 25th and 29th, from 10.00 to 22.00, authors, publishers, journalists, national and international cultural representatives, politicians, people of all ages will together celebrate The BOOK. The international Book Fair “Bookfest 2011” will be held un­der the high auspices of the Ro­ma­nian Ministry of Culture and National Patrimony, with the essen­tial support of the Hungarian Ministry of National Resouces, the Hun­garian Publishers Federation and the Hungarian Cultural Cen­ter in Bucharest. The visitors will have free access at the fair organized at Exhibitions Centre Bu­cha­rest. As Romania and Hungary share a long tradition of cultural dia­logue, Bookfest 2011  aims to bring in the spotlight the rich cultu­ral heritage of Hungary and en­courage the Romanian readers to discover it into more depth.

The Hungarian authors whose pre­sence has been confirmed are: Pé­ter Esterházy, Ádám Bodor, Péter Nádas, Attila Bartis. The well known literary translator Anamaria Pop will kindly accompany them. Gá­bor Csordás, Gabriella Koszta, An­drás Forgách, Márta Józsa, Anikó Fázsy, Mihály Lakatos, and Jó­zsef P. Korossi are also being ex­pec­ted to attend. They will enter in­to literary dialogues with their Ro­manian colleagues: Mircea Cartares­cu, Gabriela Ada­mes­tea­nu, De­nisa Comanescu, Alex Ste­fa­­nescu, Carmen Musat, Iulia Po­po­­vici, Florian Filip. Some re­mar­kable artists will be on the stage of  „Bookfest“: Mircea Tiberian – fa­mous jazz piano player, Mike Go­doroja & the Blue Spirits, Taxi pop-rock band, Poesi sfolk music band, Three for Helen jazz band composed of very young but talented artists.

The Masca Theatre, exceptionally managed and directed by the well known Romanian actor Mihai Malaimare, will perform a series of theatrical shows at Bookfest: Return of the Guardians, Ex Libris, Human Stupidity, as well as a Living Museum of actors impersonating living statues. The library mice’s club, area dedicated to the young readers in C5 pavilion, will be waiting for its long time or more recent friends offering very interesting creative and educational activities.
