Chamber of Deputies rejects committee to probe FM Baconschi

The Chamber of Deputies yesterday rejected by 124 votes to 159, 10 abstentions, the request of the Opposition to set up a committee for probing the statements made by Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi about the vote by correspondence. After the vote, PSD group leader Mircea Dusa said that PDL obviously wants no probing committee, “because it does not want to present the irregularities.” The Chamber of Deputies adopted Monday, on article basis, the draft act on forming this committee. PSD and PNL asked the Lower House to set up a commission that would probe some statements made by Baconschi during the PDL Convention about the law of the vote by correspondence, which would bring one million votes to this party.
