Voicu allegedly received a house from Locic and put pressure on Vanghelie

Senator Catalin Voicu allegedly received an apartment from businessman Marius Locic and put pressure on Mayor Marian Vanghelie to promote Locic’s interests, reads the document through which the national security file on Voicu was transferred to the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), in view of investigations.

The prosecutor of the Department for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), Catalin Borcoman wrote that “on 30 August 2009, Voicu talked with Marius Locic and informed him that he was monitored by the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI).” “According to the senator, the SRI documents refer to the fact that Marius Locic gave Catalin Voicu an apartment for free, and the latter put constant pressure on Mayor Marian Vanghelie to promote the businessman’s interests,’ reads the DIICOT resolution. Yesterday, a court upheld DNA’s appeal against a sentence that would have set Voicu free from preventive arrest.
