Danone Romania posted in 2010 a business turnover of RON 476 M, up 10 per cent from RON 435 M year-on-year, according to a press release by the company. Danone therefore consolidates to 58 per cent in 2010 its leading position on the Romanian market of fresh dairy product. The company’s market share is also on the rise in the plain and fruit yogurt segments, to 69 per cent and 72 per cent respectively. 90 per cent of the Danone products marketed in Romania are made at the company’s plant in Bucharest.
Three per cent of the Danone production goes to the Adriatic region and the republic of Moldova. Danone investments increased to over RON 17 M for developing its industrial capacity, technology, logistics and distribution. Some of the investments were channelled into Spre Vest <Westbound> programme dedicated to Danone partner farms, in order to increase both the amount and quality of the milk collected. Mediafax cited Stephane Batoux, General Manager Danone Romania, as saying that this year, the company will kick off works seeking to expand production capacity in Bucharest and increase the number of the workforce.
