Ruling coalition lost and won back majority in Senate in a single day

Senator Serban Radulescu has resigned from PDL’s Parliamentary group yesterday, his move depriving the ruling coalition of majority in the Senate. “I want to announce that starting today (yesterday – editor’s note) I am no longer a member of the PDL group and will act as a non-affiliated independent Senator,” Serban Radulescu announced. The Opposition’s Senators applauded his announcement. He said his gesture was prompted by the government’s unpopular measures.

Political sources stated ten days ago for Mediafax that PDL Senator Serban Radulescu might resign from PDL in order to join PC, a party that would propose him as its candidate for the Presidency of the Cluj County Council. Only a few hours later, independent (ex Social Democrat) Senator Ion Toma joined the parliamentary group of UNPR, part of the ruling coalition.
