Maria Basescu: We would have wanted a son

The wife of the president Traian Basescu, Maria, stated, yesterday, that her husband and she would have very much liked to have a son, but argued they hadn’t got their wish because Traian Basescu was, more often than not, away at sea during their youth, Mediafax reports. Maria Basescu added that she was now looking forward to becoming a grandmother. “I told my daughters, this may shock you, I don’t know whether they plan to get married or not, but I told them they should have children as soon as possible. I want to be a grandmother,” Maria Basescu said. The statements were made on the occasion of the reception organized at Potigrafu (Prahova County), one year after the baptism of Prince Carol Ferdinand, the son of Prince Paul and Princess Lia.
