Nicolae Popa: I did not run away from the country; I only took a holiday

Former Gelsor CEO Nicolae Popa filed at the Bucharest Tribunal a request asking magistrates to revise his sentence in the FNI case. In the document, Popa mentions that he did not run away from the country, and decided to spend his holiday in Bali, where he started to do business, according to ancheteonline.ro. “I left the country on 07.06.2000, for a holiday in Bali-Indonesia, where I stayed because I found opportunities to work for a company and then open my own business,” Popa explained.
