UEFA confirms FC Timisoara is out of Champions League

UEFA confirmed on Tuesday that FC Timisoara will not play in Champions League. Their place was taken by FC Vaslui, after Timisoara failure to obtain the license and its relegation. FC Vaslui is to play the third preliminary round of the Champions League, while their place in Europa League is to be filled in by Gaz Metan Medis.

Dinamo shareholder Cristian Borcea announced on Monday that Liviu Ciobotariu is Dinamo’s new coach, who would fill the position temporary or permanently, depending on what former coach Ioan Andone decides to do.

“I told the players they are the best, that they face a difficult year ahead and need to train the best they can, with the top target being the team qualifying to Europa League, and that they shall listen to what the coach tells them. Liviu Ciobotariu could be the interim or permanent coach, we’ll see that in the coming days. I talked to Andone, and I’ll wait for him anyway,” Borcea said, who outlined that Europa League is the team’s top target in the coming season.

Israeli Ronny Levy is Steaua Bucharest’s principal coach, who expressed his hope Friday he would win the championship title with Steaua, where he agreed to work as coach once the team’s new general manager, Mihai Stoica, proposed him for the job. Stoica said that the teams coached by Levy played the kind of game Steaua wish to play. Steaua financier Gigi Becali announced on Fridaty that Ronny Levy, Unirea Urziceni’s former coach, is Steaua’a new principal trainer.

For now though, Levy must sort out his problems with his former team Beitar Jerusalem, which sent Steaua a formal notification asking the club to cancel any agreement signed with Ronny Levy, or send a sum of money in order to get the all-clear to have him as Steaua’s new coach.

CFR, first training session led by Jorge Costa

CFR’s new players – Lionn (Vitoria Guimaraes), Camora (Naval), Renan (Beira Mar), Sougu (Academica Coimbra) and Ronny (Guangong) were presented to the team. Arpad Paszkany, the team’s owner, awaits three more transfers to be completed.

After one week’s training in Cluj, the team will be in a training camp at Abtenau, Austria, June 20 through July 3. During this period, CFR will play three friendlies with Dundee United, APOEL Nicosia and SV Ried.
