Sick girl tied to rope by her mother kept out of house

A shocking case was reported in the Mocani-Puiesti commune, Vaslui County, where a 21-year-old female suffering from cerebral palsy was tied to a rope by her own mother who would not let her daughter live in the house, but has kept her in the yard instead. And that while she receives a monthly allowance exactly to take care of her daughter. The neighbours were outraged about what happened and lodged a complaint against the woman with the Child Protection Authority.

“The evaluation established the young lady does not live in a secure environment and her rights are encroached on. As a temporary solution, she was admitted into the centre for a maximum of 62 days, during which period we will assess all the options possible and she will most likely be admitted into a centre for handicapped persons. We will examine the case and see whether we can notify the Prosecutor’s Office. Under law, the assistant is the commune hall employee, there are social inquiries at the commune hall, yet no abuse has been reported,” Realitatea TV quoted Irina Campeanu, spokeswoman for the Vaslui Social Assistance Department, as saying.

The Prefect of Vaslui ordered an inquiry into the case, and officials with the Vaslui Social Assistance Department said they would notify the Prosecutor’s Office about the case. “I went to the scene. I will reach a decision in the coming days. I was shocked with what I saw there. Local authorities must conduct periodic inquiries, Levente Csaba Szekely, the Prefect of Vaslui, said.
