Tennis: BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy Tournament – Sept. 17-25

The EUR 368,450 BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy ATP tournament, which replaces the BCR Romania Open, will be held at the BNR Arenas, Sept. 17-25.The event organizers announced that, starting 2012, the tournament will take place in April, ahead of the Rolland Garos tournament in France. Tiriac says that despite the scheduling posing the disadvantage of many players being likely to opt out and go straight to Paris to train, there are players who still need one more clay tournament to play before the Rolland Garros”. Bogdan Enoiu, tournament organizer and general manager McCann Erickson Romania, said he is hopeful to see Ilie Nastase and Ion Tiriac playing a demonstration match in September. Ion Tiriac, tournament license holder, said: “Every time I am asked what the key to success is, my answer is always the same: to find valuable, strong and earnest partners. This is what I do now too, when, alongside BRD-Groupe Societe Generale, I am convinced we will make the Bucharest tournament into a major event on the tennis map”.
