On the first day of his visit to Tunisia, the second leg of his North Africa tour after Egypt, Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi had a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Mouldi Kefi, according to a press release from the Foreign Ministry. In talks with Kefi on Wednesday, Baconschi voiced the Romanian government’s support and admiration for the Tunisian people and the country’s contribution to triggering a wide democratisation process in the region. In the context, Baconschi offered Romanian expertise in the democratisation process but also in institutional construction and reconstruction, presenting a concrete project for this purpose.  Baconschi also had talks with representatives of the business environment from both countries. The Romanian official underlined the business opportunities offered by the new political context, voicing hope that bilateral economic ties would be further stimulated. On the last day of his visit to Tunisia yesterday, Baconschi was scheduled to meet with the prime minister and the minister of trade and tourism before holding a speech about Romania’s experience in the democratic transition process at the Tunis Arab Institute for Human Rights.
