Obama prolongs procurement of Russian weapons-grade uranium

President Obama has extended the operation of the Russia-US agreement that entails the US buying weapons-grade uranium from Soviet nuclear warheads to ensure nuclear non-proliferation, according to RT.com. The contract was signed in 2000 and expires in 2013. At the moment up to 50 per cent of American nuclear power stations use fuel rods made from Russian weapons-grade uranium diluted with refined natural uranium.
