A ten-year-old girl who went missing on Friday was found dead, on Saturday night, in a ditch in the vicinity of Jimbolia (Timis County). A man who was a suspect in this case and admitted to having raped and strangled the girl was taking into custody yesterday.
The spokesperson for the Timis County Police, Andreea Cinteza, stated, quoted by Mediafax, that the Jimbolia Police was notified that a ten-year-old girl had gone missing and, on Saturday night, they found her body in a ditch in the outskirts of the town.
According to the investigators, the girl was spending the summer at her grandparents’, in Jimbolia, and, on Friday, around 3 pm, she went swimming with a 40-year-old man, a friend of the family. However, the girl’s family only reported her missing on Saturday evening.
According to the aforementioned sources, the girl was found, naked, in a ditch, covered by the dress she had worn.
Cinteza stated that the police had caught, on Sunday afternoon, the 40-year-old man whom she had gone swimming with and taken him in for questioning. The investigators stated that the suspect had admitted to the deed, saying that he had deflowered the girl and then strangled her, having panicked when seeing the blood.
