Victor Ciorbea saw his motion (programme) winner in the elections for the presidency of the Christian Democrat National Peasants’ Party (PNTCD) during Saturday’s Congress held at the Palace Hall of Bucharest, with 529 votes to 4, and 34 voided ballots. On the same list, Andrei Dimitriu ran for first vice-president, Mihai Grigoriu for secretary general and 36 members of PNTCD sought positions of vice-presidents, including Radu Sarbu. Ciorbea was the only candidate for the presidency of the party, with a motion that provides the return to constitutional monarchy, among others. “Our party and monarchist associations will initiate a campaign of gathering signatures for a referendum over restoring the constitutional monarchy,” Victor Ciorbea said in a press conference.
