ANAF has summoned PSD leader Victor Ponta this Friday at its District 1 offices of Bucharest, to give explanations about his annual income statements for 2007-2008 and the incomes and payments registry, reads an invitation sent to the president of PSD. According to the document, on June 6, 2011 fiscal inspectors went to the “tax residence” located on Jiului Street in Bucharest, “in view of a fiscal inspection.” Failure to comply is regarded as misdemeanor, sanctioned by a fine. The invitation received by Ponta dates from June 20, the same day when media announced about a control made at the Turceni and Rovinari energy conglomerates, which led to the conclusion that the company led by Senator Dan Sova, which also had Victor Ponta as senior partner, illegally received RON 4.4 M. “I was pleased to hear that ANAF obeyed and summoned me today, after President Basescu warned me yesterday that I have problems with some contracts. I will go and give them the documents. I am glad to see ANAF is so responsive to what the president is saying. If I agreed to the (territorial) reorganization yesterday, in the Cotroceni meeting, probably they would not have summoned me today,” Ponta said on Realitatea TV. Wednesday, during a meeting at Cotroceni, President Traian Basescu warned PSD leader Victor Ponta that he might have to give explanations about the money from Rovinari.
