Ombudsman candidates Valer Dorneanu and Gheorghe Iancu yesterday received green light from the senators and deputies of the joint Law Committees of the two Houses of the Parliament, with unanimity of votes. After hearings, legislators reached the conclusion that both candidates meet the formal conditions in view of occupying this position.
Gheorghe Iancu, a former deputy Ombudsman, was proposed by PDL, while the current deputy Ombudsman, Valer Dorneanu was proposed by USL. The Ombudsman will be decided by the plenum of the Parliament, in a vote scheduled for Monday, June 27. The mandate of last Ombudsman, Ioan Muraru, ended on May 10.
