Dairy producer Albalact Alba Iulia has plans to expand into the retail market, as it recently opened several shops under the brand ‘De Albalact,” Money.ro reports. The idea behind the move is very simple: small shops located in the markets of large towns. In these units, the producer will sell only its own brands of dairy products – Zuzu, Fulga, Raraul and De Albalact – as wholesale or retail, at producer’s price. So far, the company opened 7 shops in the Matache and Berceni markets of Bucharest, and in the Hermes, Mihai Viteazul, Zorilor and Marasti markets of Cluj. For the time being, these shops belong to a pilot project aimed at expanding distribution. The company ended last year with a turnover of RON 261.2 M (some EUR 61 M), 15.6 pc more than in 2009, and a profit of RON 580,212 (EUR 135,363). Albalact was recently involved in a transaction worth EUR 4.8 M, in which it sold earlier this year, to a Dutch company, a cattle farm located in Vaidei, Hunedoara County.
