Price of roaming calls between Romania and Moldova to be reduced

The Romanian and Moldovan Communications Ministries signed, yesterday, a memorandum of agreement in the IT&C sector. One of the targets of this agreement is the reduction of fees applied to roaming calls between the clients of mobile phone operators in the two countries, the Romanian minister of Communications and the Information Society, Valerian Vreme, told a press conference. “To this purpose, we will have talks with the telecom operators in each state. At the same time, the memorandum will lay the basis for the initiation of collaborations between IT&C companies, as well as at institutional level, in Moldova and Romania,” Vreme added. On behalf on the Moldovan Government, the document was signed by Pavel Filip, the minister of Information Technology and Communi­cations. The memorandum stipulates the creation of a work group at expert level and setting up a joint portal to advertise investment opportunities in the IT&C sector. At the same time, another provision is promoting experience exchanges between the two countries in the fields of electronic governance, electronic signature, online commerce, public acquisitions and e-Learning systems. Furthermore, the memorandum is aimed to encourage cooperation between the two countries at the level of research centres, as well as in the postal services sector.
