All Romanian citizens to have Internet access in two years’ time

The contract for the financing of the broadband Internet access network in areas not covered by the operators will be signed in November, Mediafax informs. The project amounts to EUR 84 M and will be completed in two years’ time, the Communications Minister, Valerian Vreme, stated, yesterday.

“The final form of the project got the European Commission’s representatives’ stamp of approval. The ministry will be the owner of the network, but will not act as its operator. The network will be leased to operators, under the legal provisions,” Vreme added. He further argued that, by this project, every Romanian citizen would be able to access the Internet, in keeping with the European Union’s policy in this domain.
