Winter tires compulsory as of this winter

The Chamber of Deputies adopted, on Tuesday, with 153 votes “in favour”, 123 “against” and a blank vote, the Government’s Ordinance which makes winter tires compulsory in the cold season, according to HotNews. The bill stipulates sanctions for those driving vehicles not equipped with winter tires on public roads covered with snow, ice or glaze, including the confiscation of the car coupon and fines of up to RON 4,000. The Ordinance passed through the Senate on April 26 and the Chamber was the deciding body on it. The obligation to equip vehicles with winter tires is applicable, every year, as of November 1, until March 1.
