LaDorna starts closing down Romanian plants

France’s Lactalis, a company that has invested EUR 70-90 M in LaDorna in 2008, has closed down a cheese plant, several milk collection centres and food storage sites, Mediafax informs. The equipment was relocated to a plant in Poland.

Certain LaDorna products made in Romania are now imported from other countries in which Lactalis is present. The information was published in the Official Gazette and represents the first official insight on Lactalis’s strategy in Romania three years after it entered the local market. Thus, Lactalis has taken the decision to close down its cheese plant in Suceava, 13 milk collection centres in Suceava, Constanta and Tulcea, as well as two food storage sites.
