Nine O’Clock journalist Serban Georgescu wins literary debut prize

The UniCredit Literary Debut Contest announced, on Thursday evening, the winners of its fourth edition, in all categories of the competition – poetry, short story and novel, during a gala hosted by Pavilion UniCredit, a release informs.

Thus, there were two nominees in the poetry section, and Laurentiu Belizan, from Buzau, was designated the winner, for the poetry volume “Intre noi un zid pe luna”.

In the short story section, the competition was fierce, with 11 works nominated. Petru Albu, from Simeria, Hunedoara County, was designated the winner, for the story collection “Trestii”.

In this category, the “Nine O’Clock” journalist Serban Mihai Georgescu won a special mention from the jury for his volume, “Ghidul cititorului miotonic”. In the motivation for granting thereof, Radu Paraschivescu writes that Georgescu’s text is “the best and most intelligently written; sadly, it’s not short fiction”.

In the novel section, six literary works competed for the trophy, but only one managed to win it: “Nu ma atinge”, written by Dumitru Stoica, from Bucharest. The three winning authors will see their works published by the Humanitas Publishing House.
