Social-Democrat leader Victor Ponta said on Saturday during a meeting of the National Ecologists’ Forum, under the patronage of the PSD National Council, that the Social Liberal Union needs a green party. “PSD is too large to be just ecologist. It has too many mayors to be able to convince everybody that the environment is more important than votes.
It has too many concerns about economic and social issues to manage to place the environment first,” Ponta added.
The Ecologists’ Forum meeting was attended by several leading Social-Democrats, including honourary president Ion Iliescu and National Council head Adrian Nastase.
