Corvins’ Castle hosts the largest outdoor classical music concert in Transylvania

The largest outdoor classical music festival in Transylvania started, on Sunday evening, at the Corvins’ (Hunyad) Castle in Timisoara and will include, for the first time at the castle, an opera show – Verdi’s “La Traviata” -, graced with the participation of Mexican tenor Hector Lopez and Bulgarian baritone Krum Galabov, under the baton of Japanese conductor Koichiro Kanno. The festival is running until July 10, Mediafax reports.

“Dracula Nights at Corvinilor Castle”, which opens the “Opera Nights” festival, kicked off, on Sunday, with a photography exhibition in the castle’s “Bethlen” hall, followed by a jazz concert offered by the ban Tempo, in the courtyard. On Friday, at 9pm, the Order of the Hunedoara Knights will open the Opera Gala, featuring the artists of the “Oleg Danovski” National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Constanta, with the extraordinary participation of foreign guests.

On Saturday, the Castle’s courtyard will host the concert “Bijuterii muzicale”, while, a performance of Verdi’s “La Traviata” is scheduled for Sunday. One of the special guests of the festival in Hune­doara is the maestro Theodore Coresi, the head of the “Opernsanger” singing studio in Vienna, where graduates of music universities from all across the world come to train.

Tickets for the opera shows can be purchased from the Corvins’ Castle in Hunedoara, the Deva Art Theatre, as well as the Culture House in Deva. The price of a ticket is RON 20 for one show or RON 50 for a full three-day pass.
