Ponta: Future USL government will not cover Min Udrea’s debts

The president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Victor Ponta, stated, yesterday, that the Social Liberal Union (USL) government would pay the debts made by the present Cabinet, except for those resulting from the National Plan for Infrastructure Development (PNDI) fraud. “Furthermore, – I proposed this, very much in earnest – all the people employed at the Regional Development Ministry, from the minister, state secretary to directors and civil servants involved in this project by which EUR 4 bln were embezzled, will see their assets seized so the companies damaged or the Government can turn against them. I think that the wealth of Ms. Elena Udrea and of others in the ministry should cover the potential damages they caused in this way, directly,” Ponta stated. “The only debts we won’t cover are those resulting from an obvious fraud, the use of public money to meet electoral campaign targets, that is, PNDI, initiated by Ms. Elena Udrea. The EUR 4 bln-program for the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) campaign, this we won’t cover,” Ponta argued.
