Bucharest green areas, five times more expensive than Paris’

During their last term in office, the mayors of Bucharest (general mayor and district mayors) spent from the budgets of the Bucharest Municipality (PMB) and districts, a total USD 908 M to care for the green areas of the city, B365.ro informs. This is five time the sum spent by the city of Paris on its green areas. Plus, in Bucharest, one should also add European grants worth USD 87 M, spent for the same purpose. According to local administrations’ budgets, the six districts provided in their budgets for 2011 a total sum of RON 412,069,380 for the ‘Maintenance of public gardens, parks, green areas and sporting facilities.’ As this is similar to what they allotted in the past years to this regard, we might say that the mayors of Bucharest spent for green areas RON 1,648,277,520, or USD 568,371,558 during their ongoing terms in office.
