A 9 year old child died, and another aged 5 was severely injured yesterday, in the Mehedinti County, when they were hit by a Matiz automobile driven by a 28 year old woman on National Road DN 67 A, near the village of Corcova. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save the life of the older boy.
Police is trying to find the circumstances of the accident.
Also yesterday, the driver of a utility vehicle died in the crash with a lorry that skipped lanes and frontally rammed his vehicle, on DN13, in Valenii de Mures. “An innocent driver died. The driver of the truck lost control of his vehicle, probably because he was speeding on a wet road, skipped lanes and collided with the van,” Infotrafic officials said, quoted by Realitatea TV. The accident interrupted the traffic on DN13 for two hours, at km 53+500, in Valenii de Mures.
Two separate road crashes that occurred Wednesday night in Constanta took a heavy toll – one dead and seven injured, including two children – within less than an hour. The first crash involved an automobile with four youth on board, which violently hit a bus. The driver died on the spot and two passengers were severely injured. According to SMURD Constanta medic Mihaela Radu, they are at a local hospital, in unstable condition. To extract the body of the driver, firefighters had to cut the twisted metal of the automobile. “The accident occurred because the driver of the bus took a left turn, without giving way to the other vehicle,” said chief agent Gabriel Marin. The bus driver will be charged with manslaughter.
Shortly after this tragic accident, another crash happened in Constanta. An automobile with two women and two children on board overturned several times, after being hit by another vehicle, whose driver failed to observe the right of way. The four victims were rushed to hospital and will recover from their injuries.
A terrible accident occurred Wednesday night on DN 13, between Brasov and Feldioara. Five women died when their car was crushed by a heavy truck. The driver (64) and the other four women, aged between 25 and 45, died on the spot, according to Commissary Catalin Bocai, of the Infotrafic Center. In another incident, four people barely survived a crash in Vaslui County, when their car was rammed head-on by a truck that was attempting a reckless overtake, at a road bend. The victims are the mayor of Garceni and three subalterns – secretary, accountant and driver – that were going to take the money for the salaries of municipal employees. “The responsibility for the accident belongs to the driver of the truck, which attempted to overtake an excavator at a road bend that did not allow him to see the road ahead,” said the chief of the SPR Bureau of Vaslui, Iulian Munteanu. The truck driver faces charges of reckless driving and personal injury.
