The net medium wage in Bucharest is nearly 30 pc higher than those in Iasi, Timisoara and Cluj, while the cost of living in these cities is fairly close to the one in the capital, according to a study conducted by the consultancy firm A.T. Kearney on seven cities in Romania, Mediafax reports. Thus, the inhabitants of the capital earn the highest net medium wage, of RON 2,091 a month, while those in Iasi, Timisoara and Constanta earn 71-72 pc of a Bucharestian’s medium wage. The ranking is maintained in terms of purchase power, but the percentages are slightly different, with the six cities closer to the capital’s average, given their lower cost of living. The ranking indicates Bucharest has the highest cost of living in Romania, followed by Iasi (97.2 pc of the capital’s figure), Cluj (94.3 pc) and Timisoara (91.9 pc).
