Between July 21 and 24, jazz-lovers are invited to the 15th edition of the Garana International Jazz Festival, a manifestation which is already a reference point on the cultural map of the Banat and, indeed, of Romania. This year’s line-up includes, once again, heavyweight names of the international jazz scene, the likes of Anthony Jackson, Simon Phillips, Lezsek Moszder, Jon Hassel, Eivind Aarset, and many others. According to the organizers, the present edition will also be an occasion for the much-awaited comeback of great Romanian artists, such as Liviu Butoi, Tony Kuhn, Luiza Zan and Marius Mihalache . One of the highlights of the festival is the concert of the German violinist Frederika Krier, one of the great talents representing the younger generation of artists, born in Timisoara, who emigrated with her family at the age of 2. Those present at the festival will also have the chance to visit, for the time of the festival, the photography exhibition “All My Jazz”, belonging to the great American artist Charles Giuliano. The curator of the exhibition is Elisabeth Lili Ochsenfeld. “Locomotiva Jazz”, a project of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) Budapest will be presented in Garana as well.
The festival’s organizer is the “Jazz Banat” Cultural Foundation in Timisoara.
