Romanian students investigated for drug trafficking

Anti-drug police officers and Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) prosecutors are investigating four Romanians for trafficking drugs from Netherlands to Romania. One of them is a Ph.D. candidate in Geneva, one is a Law student and one is a student at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. The investigation started three months ago and sought to dismantle an important international network that was trafficking cannabis. Two of the students were caught red-handed in early April while they were smuggling approximately 3.3 kilograms of high grade cannabis into Romania. The drugs bought in the Netherlands were found in a package hidden inside their car. The two students were arrested several days later. The investigation is ongoing.
