A small plane crashed yesterday at noon in Sirna locality, Prahova County. The plane had two persons onboard. One of the persons onboard the plane was found dead and the other was resuscitated and rushed to hospital, Sirna Deputy Mayor Ioan Bara stated. He pointed out that the two pilots were experienced and they were testing the two-seat airplane. The airplane caught fire after hitting the ground. In his turn, Nicolae Popescu, head of ISU Prahova, pointed out that the injured man is in a very serious condition, the SMURD helicopter flying him to the Floreasca Hospital in Bucharest. The victim has burns on 60-70 per cent of his body.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Ploiesti Court of Appeals and the Romanian Aeronautic Authority’s representatives have started an investigation. The injured man is a 60-years-old retired air force colonel that has flown 3,000 hours. He was the plane’s co-pilot at the time the crash occurred. Mircea Toader, the plane’s pilot, was an experienced flight instructor. Preliminary information shows that the two were conducting a test flight.
