President Basescu promulgates military pension law

The head of state signed, on Friday, the decree for the promulgation of the Law approving the Government’s Emergency Ordinance 1/2011, which introduces a number of measures regarding pensions granted to beneficiaries from the defence, public order and national safety system. The said law was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies on June 21. The Government approved, in late January, OUG 1/2011, which stipulates that the methodology for the recalculation of military pensions based on the gross medium wage, rather than based on individual income, will be extended until the end of the year and that institutions in the defence sector will be under the obligation to track and remit to pension offices the records of income made by the military cadres, by October 31, 2011 at the latest.
