Geoana summons Boc

Speaker of the Senate Mircea Geoana has asked Premier Emil Boc in a letter to come before Parliament in September and present the status of the absorption of European funds and of the evaluation of Ministers that have competencies in this domain. The Speaker of the Senate considers that an absorption rate of approximately 3 per cent should spark a firm reaction from state institutions. He considers that “such a situation can no longer be tolerated.” In the same context, PDL MP Raluca Turcan stated yesterday for RFI Romania that the government’s activity has to be refreshed, considering that a year has already passed since the previous government reshuffle. Turcan believes that the tapping of European funds should be a priority for the Ministers but should not be the sole criteria taken into account in a possible government reshuffle.
