Children get hospitalised over drug consumption

Two children from Podu Iloaiei, aged 4 and 6, are being treated in hospital for drug consumption. “The 4 year old patient came in a serious condition, with convulsions and nausea. The older one was better, but was in a condition similar to inebriation. Toxicology analyses show they had ingested metamphetamines and opioids. Now they feel better, but will stay under monitoring in hospital for some time,” said Dr. Maricel Burlacu, spokesman of the Children’s Hospital. The parents of the two minors reject the hypothesis and say that the children either drank a substance from a bottle in their yard, or ate some herbs, ziaruldeiasi.ro reports. The General Department for Social Assistance and Child Protection will open a probe into the case. In a separate incident, a girl aged 11 from the Dambovita County reached hospital in alcohol induced coma, after she drank a bottle of plum brandy and collapsed in the basement of the house. Relatives say this is not the first time when the girl got drunk. She lives with her grandmother and has two brothers who live in a foster home.
