DNA prosecutors yesterday extended by 30 more days the interdiction to leave the country, in the case of PDL Senator Mircea Banias, who is a suspect in a file of corruption at the Agigea customs checkpoint. Mircea Banias is accused of joining an organised criminal group, influence peddling and instigation to theft. According to DNA sources, on 22 October 2010 Banias asked another suspect, Eugen Bogatu – then a director with the Port Domains Department of the National Company for the Administration of Constanta Seaports, to give him for free several products seized by customs officers from the Constanta Sud Agigea Customs Checkpoint. Furthermore, Banias promised he would intervene to protect Liviu Durbac, the head of the Constanta Sud Agigea Customs Checkpoint, who was defendant in a lawsuit.
