Simona Halep in round two at BCR Ladies Open Romania

Three Romanian players have qualified for round two of the BCR Ladies Open Romania, Agerpres informs. Top seed Simona Halep was one of them, qualifying for round two on Monday. In the opening round Halep defeated Slovenia’s Masa Zec-Peskirici, score 6-2, 6-1. In round two Simona Halep will play against the winner of the game that pits Slovakia’s Lenka Jurikova against Romania’s Cristina Dinu (wildcard).

Romania’s Alexandra Ca­dantu qualified too after she defeated Italy’s Anna Floris, score 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. Cristina Mitu qualified for the second round too after she eliminated Kazakhstan’s Sesil Karatantcheva.

Yesterday seven more Romanian players played in the singles event: Irina Begu (top seed 2), Sorana Cirstea (top seed 3), Raluca Olaru, Elena Bogdan, Cristina Dinu, Liana Ungur and Madalina Gojnea.

Access to the Herastrau Tennis Academy is free of charge until today, July 20. Access to the central arena alone will be possible on the basis of tickets on July 21-23. The BCR Ladies Open tournament’s prizes total USD 100,000.
