Already on its 15th edition, the Garana International Jazz Festival kicks off today and is running until Sunday, in Poiana Lupului (the entrance to the village of Garana, Caras-Severin County). The line-up includes the likes of Anthony Jackson, Simon Phillips, Lezsek Moszder, Jon Hassel and Eivind Aarset. According to the organizers, Romanian artists are also featured on the programme: Liviu Butoi, Tony Kuhn, Luiza Zan, Horea Cristovan and Mario Florescu. During the festival, Mike Godoroja & The Blue Spirit, Marius Mihalache and the medieval music ensemble Trei Parale will present the project Balkanic Blues Society. One of the highlights of the festival is the concert of the violinist Frederika Krier, from Germany, one of the most promising talents of the young generation, born in Timisoara.
Those present in the festival will be able to see, throughout the festival, the photography exhibition “All My Jazz”, signed by the great American artist Charles Giuliano. The curator of the exhibition is Elisabeth Lili Ochensfeld.
Another exhibition running for the time of the festival is “Live Colours”, an exhibition which brings together works by the painter Cristian Buzneanu.
The concerts included in the festival will take place, Thursday to Sunday, starting 7pm. The festival’s organizer is the Jazz Banat Cultural Foundation in Timisoara.
