Romanian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia dies

The Romanian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ion Dobreci, passed away on Friday, following a heart attack, according to a release by the Foreign Ministry (MAE). The ambassador started his diplomatic career in 1979 and held, throughout his activity, several positions in the Middle East. In recent years, the diplomat acted, in turn, as charge d’affaires at the Romanian Embassy in Riyadh (1997-2000), ambassador in Damascus (2000-2005) and, as of 2006, Romania’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Ministry paid its heartfelt condolences to the family.
