Rural mayor’s son hunted by police after stabbing three

The son of the mayor in Deta, Timis County, Bogdan Daniel Roman, is hunted by the police after stabbing three young men with a knife, on Saturday night, in a conflict which broke out at a garden in the city centre. According to the police, Bogdan Daniel Roman stabbed three young men, aged 22 to 31, two of whom were taken to the Timisoara Emergency County Hospital, and the third to the hospital in Deta. One of the young men, Stefan Alexandru, stated, for pressalert.ro, that the mayor’s son had asked them to pay a protection fee and that, although police officers witnessed the incident, these did not intervene. “We are in the bicycle business. We do what we can to get by. He asked us to pay his wise guy’s fee – a protection fee of EUR 5,000. (…) After he cut me, the others attacked me as well. Then the police gave me another beating. He cut me in front of the police,” the young man stated. In retort, the Romanian Police said denied yesterday there were policemen at the fight scene. Bogdan Roman, aged 32, is known by the police for a series of rows he was involved in and this is not the first time he injures people in a fight.
