Russian Film Festival in Iasi

This week, film-lovers in Iasi can enjoy a series of Russian productions within the KinoA festival. The festival is running until Sunday and, throughout this week, spectators in Iasi can watch free screenings starting every night at 9pm, at the “Mihai Uraschi” Culture Home in the Copou Park. The festival is meant to acquaint the public with the Russian film school. The films are translated by a group of students from the University of Bucharest’s Russian Department.

Today, film-lovers can watch the musical comedy “The Jazz Men” (1983), which received awards in the 1984 Chicago International Film Festival. The KinoA Russian Film Festival will continue, on the third day, with “The Killers of the Czar”, a multi-awarded historical drama. The film scheduled for Thursday, July 28, is “American Daughter” (1995), a 98 minute-drama, while the production scheduled for Friday is “The Artistic Agitation Brigade” (2007), a tragicomedy which collected six awards in various film festivals. On the last but one day, the public is invited to “Copycat Trouble”, a 1995 comedy, whereas the last day of the festival is allotted to “The Star” (2002), an action movie which received four major awards.
