Table Tennis: Bernadette Szocs wins European Juniors Championship

Romania’s Bernadette Szocs won the gold medal at the European Table Tennis Championships for Juniors and Cadets, after defeating Germany’s Petrissa Solje in the final of the juniors’ singles event, score 4-3 (4-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-7, 3-11, 11-5, 11-9). Solje was the winner of this year’s Europe Top 10.

At the European Championships in Kazan Romania won 8 medals (3 gold medals, 2 silver and 3 bronze). Lucian Munteanu and Irina Ciobanu won gold in the juniors’ mixed doubles event.

Romania’s Bernadette Cynthia Szocs and Germany’s Petrissa Solja won the juniors’ doubles event after defeating Romania’s Irina Ciobanu and Serbia’s Anelia Lupulesku in the final. Romania’s Bernadett Balint and Croatia’s Lea Rakovac won a bronze medal in the cadets’ doubles event. Bernadett Balin won a bronze medal in the cadets’ mixed doubles event too, alongside Hungary’s Nandor Ecseki. The number of medals it won puts Romania on third place, behind France and Germany.
